How the virtual try-on works, step by step

Chulair's try-on doesn't swap your clothes for a template: it dresses you in specific garments — yours, or ones someone else has published — on a photo of you. Here's how:

• Upload a photo of yourself in the Me tab: front-facing, full body, good light. One is enough, and you can change it any time.
• Pick the garments. They can come from your wardrobe (Chulair split them out of the photos you uploaded), from a look in the feed or from your own showroom. Tapping a garment adds it to the try-on tray.
• Tap Try on. The AI composes the image keeping your face, your pose and the drape of each garment. It usually takes between half a minute and a couple of minutes; you can keep using the app and we'll tell you when it's ready.
• See the result in the Fitting room, try another combination with one tap, or publish it to your showroom if you like it.

Each try can combine up to one garment of each kind — top, trousers or skirt, shoes, coat or dress — and the tray keeps your candidates so you can decide calmly what to try together.

How it differs from a store's try-on

An online store's try-on shows you its catalogue on a model or, at best, on your photo: that brand only, that season only. Chulair's starts from your wardrobe: you photograph your clothes, the AI recognises and crops each garment, and from there you try what you already own next to what you like from the community, whatever the brand. And when a garment isn't yours, it looks for it in real stores in your country — Zara, H&M, Amazon, Zalando, ASOS, Nordstrom, Mercado Libre and the local ones in each market — so going from “it suits me” to “I'll buy it” is one tap. A store's try-on helps you buy in that store; Chulair's helps you decide what to wear.

What it does well, and what it doesn't

So you know what to expect before signing up:

• It's an AI-generated image: it shows how the combination looks on you, with your pose and proportions, but it won't tell you your size or how the garment fits to the centimetre. That's what the store is for.
• Accessories (bags, necklaces, glasses) are recognised and searched in stores, but for now they aren't dressed in the try-on.
• The clearer your photo — front-facing, full body, nobody else in the frame — the more faithful the result. A dark or half-body photo makes it worse.
• You need an account and a photo of yourself: the no-sign-up tour lets you see clothes on real people and find them in stores, but not try them on.
• It's free, with no credits or watermark. Chulair is funded by the commission some stores pay when you buy through their links.

Tips for a more faithful result

Use a recent photo, standing, in fitted or simple clothes (the AI replaces what you're wearing, and a big coat leaves a trace). Try garments from sharp photos first: a badly cropped garment dresses worse. And if the result doesn't convince you, change one thing — the photo or a garment — and try again: every attempt is free and is saved so you can compare.
