The best AI outfit generator apps in 2026, compared honestly

«AI outfit generator» means two very different things: apps that put together outfits from the clothes you already own, and image tools that invent an outfit from a prompt.

Real looks from the Chulair community

Here we compare nine of the most recommended — ours included — on what they start from, what they give you back, whether you see it on yourself and what's really free, using only what each publishes, with the date.

How it works

  1. 1Digitise your clothes by uploading photos of yourself wearing them
  2. 2Every morning, an outfit from your garments for the weather in your city
  3. 3Try it on your photo or find what's missing in your country's stores

How we compared them — and the difference that matters most

We build Chulair, so this is not a neutral review and we won't pretend it is. Every fact about another app below comes from its own website or its App Store / Google Play listing, checked on 18 September 2026; when an app doesn't publish something we say «not published». The sources are listed at the end.

«AI outfit generator» covers two very different things, and most confusion starts there:

The first answers «what do I wear today?»; the second is closer to a mood board. We compared both on the same questions: what it starts from, what you get back, whether you see it on yourself, whether it checks the weather, where to buy what's missing, and what's really free.

Acloset — AI Fashion Assistant

Type: outfits from your clothes. Starts from: your wardrobe (photos, a «Smart Detector» that finds garments in selfies, or order imports), the weather, your schedule, the occasion and your mood, plus an AI stylist chat. You get: outfits built from your own clothes. On you: yes, on an AI avatar created from your photo, with a number of tries that «may vary». Weather: yes, daily suggestions tailored to it. Buying: store imports and a wishlist; buy links not published. Price: all features free up to 100 items; then Basic $3.99/month, Premium $9.99 or Expert $24.99, plus «beans» credit packs. iOS and Android.

Whering

Type: outfits from your clothes. Starts from: your wardrobe, the weather and your location — since its August 2026 update the planner suggests outfits for trips, weekends and events by changing the location. You get: outfits from your own clothes, including «W Pick» (6 suggestions a day according to its FAQ) and a random «Dress Me» shuffle; the AI «Outfit Maker» is a paid extra. On you: not published. Weather: yes. Buying: wishlists that link to the retailer. Price: free core app with paid extras (Outfit Maker $4.99, credit packs from $2.99). iOS and Android.

Alta — Alta Daily

Type: outfits from your clothes, plus shopping. Starts from: your closet, a text prompt («date night in Paris»), a specific garment you want to build around, the weather, your schedule and budget, or a trip's cities and climates. You get: outfits from your own clothes and product recommendations to fill gaps. On you: yes, on an avatar that looks like you. Weather: yes. Buying: recommendations from brands, with sale alerts; countries not published. Price: «free to use», no in-app purchases on the App Store. iOS, Android and web. English only.

Style DNA

Type: outfits from your clothes, plus shopping. Starts from: a selfie it uses to work out your colour type, body type and style, your wardrobe, the occasion, or a photo of a store item. You get: «5 ready-to-wear outfit ideas every day» from clothes you own, and products from «26,000 brands across 231 retailers». On you: not published. Weather: not published. Buying: yes, through those retailers; countries not published. Price: a subscription for full access (App Store plans from $7.99/month or $19.99/year); what stays free is not published. iOS and Android.

Pureple — AI Outfit Planner

Type: outfits from your clothes. Starts from: your closet and the occasion; its Android listing adds weather-based suggestions. You get: outfits from your own clothes, with «unlimited AI style suggestions» on Premium. On you: no — its «virtual try-on» shows the outfit on a model and says it isn't a sizing tool. Buying: a wishlist and web import; no store links. Price: basic features free (Android shows ads); Premium $6.99/week, $14.99/month or $89.99/year. The iPhone app was updated in July 2026; the Android app hasn't been since November 2025.

Cladwell — Outfit Planner

Type: outfits from your clothes. Starts from: your closet, your local weather and what you actually wear. You get: daily outfits from your own clothes and capsule wardrobes. On you: not published. Weather: yes — «tell us your location and you'll receive personalized outfit recommendations based on your weather». Buying: none — its pitch is «no shopping required». Price: managing the closet is free; recommendations cost «less than $5 a month» according to its site, while the App Store lists plans from $2.99 to $59.99. iOS and Android.

Fotor — AI Outfit Generator

Type: image generator. Starts from: a text prompt, a style and an occasion, or your photo. You get: a generated image with an invented outfit; with your photo, it swaps your clothes for «a random outfit». On you: yes, as a photo edit — but the clothes aren't yours or from any store. Weather: no. Buying: no. Price: free credits with watermarked exports on the free plan; Pro removes the watermark (App Store: $8.99/month or $47.99/year). Web, iOS, Android and desktop.

getimg.ai — AI Outfit Generator

Type: image generator. Starts from: a text prompt, optionally with a photo of you as a reference to create an «AI fashion double». You get: a generated image. On you: a look-alike generated from your reference, not real garments on your photo. Weather: no. Buying: no. Price: no free plan on its pricing page; plans from €10/month (published in euros). Web only.

Chulair (that's us)

Type: outfits from your clothes. Starts from: your own garments — you upload photos of yourself wearing them and the AI separates and catalogues each one —, the season, the weather in your city and, for plans, a future date and place. You get: «Today's look» every morning at the time you choose — an outfit from your own garments for that day's temperature and rain, with the reason for each piece, avoiding what you wore in the last few days —, and a suggested outfit for any plan you add, with the forecast for that day and place. For ideas beyond your wardrobe, real community looks filtered by occasion and season, and a ranking of what's trending in your country. On you: yes, on your own photo. Buying: each garment can be searched in the stores of your country (39 markets). Price: free, no credits, no watermark.

What it doesn't do, so you're not surprised: it doesn't generate images from a text prompt; there's no chat to ask it things; «Today's look» is one outfit a day, not an endless shuffle, and it needs enough clothes for at least four different outfits; accessories go apart as a finishing touch and aren't worn in the try-on; and sign-up is open in 39 countries, with a waitlist for the rest.

The ones that didn't make the list

Which one should you choose

If you want to imagine an outfit that doesn't exist yet — a mood board, a costume, a reference —, an image generator such as Fotor or getimg.ai is the right tool; just know the clothes are invented. If what you want is to decide what to wear with what you own: Acloset is the most complete if 100 items are enough; Alta is free and handles prompts and trips; Style DNA if you also want colour and body-type analysis and don't mind a subscription; Whering or Cladwell for weather-aware suggestions from a free closet. And if you'd rather not catalogue garments one by one, want to see the result on your own photo for free and know where to buy what's missing in your country, that's what Chulair was built for.

Who wrote this comparison?

Chulair, which is one of the nine. That's why every fact about the others comes from their own websites and store listings — listed at the end —, the date is stated, and anything an app doesn't publish is marked «not published». If something is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
